Holualoa School Mission

Striving for Excellence through:

  • Rigorous Standards Based Education
  • Education of the Whole Child
  • Inspiring a Lifelong Love of Learning
  • Preparing Global Citizens Who Exemplify Tenacity and Resilience

Holualoa School was founded in 1897 on the slopes of Hualalai. We are a school who values hard work, taking care of each other, and always trying to do what is right. Holualoa students are prepared with the skills to succeed and the character to become leaders.

Our teachers and support staff exhibit a genuine love for all of our students. Many staff have either attended Holualoa School or have children or grandchildren who have been our students. An authentic sense of family runs through the school.

We are fortunate to have strong support from parents, extended families and the community. Parents are involved through our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), School Community Council and through volunteering in classrooms. We host a variety of well-attended school festivals and community events. Community groups have supported our school with school supplies, food for families in need, and campus beautification projects.

Holualoa implements the Common Core State Standards for math and literacy. We use the 'Success For All' (SFA) and Writing from Beginning...and Beyond curriculums for literacy and writing. We utilize 'Ready Math' curriculum for math. We also employ a variety of resources to support social studies and science. We are moving toward an increase in project based learning that incorporates multiple subjects into meaningful hands-on learning experiences.

School Song

High above the calm seas of Kona
Gently nestled beneath the blue skies
Proudly stands Holualoa School
On the slopes of Mount Hualalai

The I’o fly above Holualoa School

All are friends and family and neighbors
Where we live, our community shares
Here is warmth and lasting aloha
Our pride are teachers who care

Oh, how we love, Holualoa School

Aloha Holualoa
The ‘io fly above Holualoa School
